If a Torah scholar can’t be consumed by fire, how do you explain the death of Rabbi Chanina ben Teradyon, who was burned alive at the stake by the Romans for teaching Torah publicly?
Can the protection by the words of Torah which the tractate describes as fireproofing be counted as a sort of spiritual scarification? Scarification is the process of physically breaking, weakening, or altering the seed coat to promote germination.

When I was around 11, I was already reading the Bible. At 44, I began keeping the Sabbath laws, but on Sunday. In 2016, I discovered that the Sabbath was on Saturday, and I discovered the Jews. Through all that journey, I had never understood the magnitude of the Temple, and why the Jews cling to it. Today I understood the spiritual significance of the Temple. The only part of the Earth where the Creator chose to show His presence was first in the Tent of Meeting, and later in the Temple. And He specified every detail, both to Moses and King Solomon. Now I understand, and it makes me want to cry. Thank you for your teachings. Reply
